SOUTH GWYNEDD FOOD BANK - BARMOUTH
South Gwynedd Foodbank, formerly Barmouth Foodbank, was established in 2013 to serve the local people in communities throughout the southern half of Gwynedd.
Having operated under the charitable purposes of Barmouth Oasis Community Group for a number of years they became a Registered Charity in our own right in September 2019.
Their Foodbank Centre is located within premises occupied by Barmouth Elim Pentecostal Church and works closely with other churches and organisations throughout our area.
Through a network of over 60 voluntary and statutory agencies spread around Gwynedd, individuals are able to obtain a Foodbank Voucher which can be redeemed for food at the Centre in Barmouth or from Emergency Food Box Locations in Porthmadog, Penrhyndeudraeth, Tywyn, Dolgellau, Bala or Corris.
In addition to helping people with their food they are also able to offer clothing and furniture through their base in Barmouth, and provide Basic Cookery Courses to help people to ‘Eat Well & Spend Less’, part of the Trussell Trust ‘More Than Food’ programme.
South Gwynedd Foodbank is part of the national network of foodbanks supported by the Trussell Trust. Together with other Trussell Trust foodbanks, including Caernarfon, Anglesey, Rhyl, Abergele, Flintshire, Vale of Clwyd, Wrexham and Prestatyn, we are able to provide a co-ordinated service to the people of North Wales.
The Foodbank has only been possible because of the help and donations given by the general public, and the wonderful work carried out by their committed team of volunteers.
